The first Seagull Jug was made in London in 2014 and since then each year its design slightly changes; with handle or not, tall or wide, with or without spikes etc.
This particular jug has been slip-casted using one of the original small Seagull Jugs Kira Ni made on the potter's wheel back in Malta.
Quite often Kira get asked what is the purpose of the jug and how one can use it. It's basically a pourer either for cream or milk, or maybe some maple syrup for waffles or pancakes. You can also use it as a stationary for pens and brushes and sometimes as a planter or vase.
Each jug is an individually handcrafted work, there may be slight variations in shape and colour between pieces. The inside is glazed; the outer surface is untreated. By leaving the outer surface untreated Kira get a chance to finely sand each piece. Sanded porcelain is very soft and pleasant.
